Choiceworks for Android
On Android phones, tablets, and Chromebooks. These short guides walk you through it, one calm step at a time.

Choiceworks
Schedules, waiting skills, and feelings, the full Choiceworks system on Android phones, tablets, and Chromebooks.
Getting started: your first board
Tap the big + button
On the main screen, tap the large round + button. The Create New Board window opens.
Pick a board type
Choose the board that fits the moment:
Open the board and start building
Tap any image spot to add a picture and a label. Editing must be on to build. If tapping does nothing, open the gear (Settings) menu and turn on Editing.
The Feelings Scale
Your child points to the feeling
The scale shows faces, so even the youngest child can show you how they feel with one tap.
Then how big it is
The scale shows how strong the feeling is, from okay to too much, and the app speaks along in a real recorded voice.
Then what helps
Your child chooses something that helps from pictures you can customize, like taking a break or a deep breath. The board keeps a quiet history so you can see patterns over time.
Building buttons with your own photos and voice
Tap an image spot on your board
With Editing on, tap the spot where you want your picture. The image editor opens.
Add your own photo
Tap Take Photo (Camera) to snap a new one, or Choose from Photo Library to use one you already have. A photo of your child's real toothbrush or your real car means more than any stock drawing.
Record your own voice
Tap the microphone button and say the words, like "Brush your teeth." Tap it again to stop. When your child taps the button on the board, they hear you.
Timers
Add a timer to a task
With Editing on, tap Add Timer on a task and pick how long it should run.
Walk away if you need to
The timer keeps running if you leave the board or even close the app. When time is up, your device shows a Timer finished notification and plays a sound.
Pick the sound
Open the gear (Settings) menu and tap Timer Settings to choose the sound that plays when a timer ends.
Back up your boards
Open the gear (Settings) menu
On the main screen, tap the gear (Settings) icon.
Tap Back Up Everything
Choiceworks packs all your boards, pictures, and recordings into one file that ends in .choiceworks.
Save the file somewhere safe
The share screen opens. Pick where to keep it:
Find your backup file
Open the .choiceworks file wherever you kept it, in Drive, in your email, or in your Files app, and tap it.
Confirm the restore
Choiceworks opens and asks before it changes anything. A restore replaces what is on the device with what is in the backup, so say yes only when that is what you want.
Sharing a board with another Android family
Open the board you want to share
Tap the Share icon at the top right and choose Share Interactive Board.
Send the file
Choiceworks makes a single file that ends in .choiceworks, with the pictures and recordings inside. Send it by Quick Share, email, or Drive.
The other person taps the file
On their Android device, they tap the .choiceworks file and the board imports into their Choiceworks, ready to use. They need Choiceworks for Android installed. This works between Android devices only.
The passcode lock
Turn on the passcode
Open the gear (Settings) menu and switch Passcode on. Enter a new 4-digit passcode and save it.
What it protects
The passcode is asked whenever someone tries to turn Editing on or off. Your child can use the boards freely, but cannot change or delete them.
If you forget it
Tap Forgot passcode? on the passcode screen, then Start 24-Hour Reset. A red banner counts down on every screen so nobody can start a reset quietly. Entering the correct passcode at any time cancels it. After 24 hours the lock is removed, the app tells you, and you can set a new passcode. Your boards are never touched by any of this.

Questions make the app better
Some of the most valuable help we get comes from users. If you have a question, ask it. Chances are twenty-five other families are stuck on the exact same spot. If something does not work the way you expected, or you wish the app did something it does not, write to info@beevisual.com. A speech pathologist in Australia raised his hand recently. It made our day, and the app got better for everyone.
If Choiceworks helps, say so
Give us a shot first, then tell the world
If something is not working, write to info@beevisual.com and give us the chance to fix it. We usually can, quickly, and you will hear back from the founder herself. And if Choiceworks helped your family get through the day, even one day, that is worth saying. Leave an honest review on Google Play and tell us what it did for your child. One good day is how the next family finds us.
Helpful tip
Make a backup before you hand the device to anyone, before a big change, and any time you have built something you would hate to lose. It takes under a minute.
