Student Data Privacy at Bee Visual

This page answers the questions schools and districts ask most when reviewing Choiceworks and Choiceworks Calendar.

What data does Bee Visual collect? None. Our apps have no accounts, no logins, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party SDKs. Bee Visual operates no servers and never receives any content a student or teacher creates.

Where is student data stored? On the device. If iCloud sync is used, data is also stored in the customer's own iCloud private database, operated by Apple under the Apple ID signed in on the device. On Android and Chromebook, data is stored on the device; the device's own Google backup may include it in the customer's own Google account, never Bee Visual's. It never passes through Bee Visual, and we cannot access it.

Who can access student data? Only the owner of the device and the Apple ID or Google account signed in on it. No Bee Visual employee can see, retrieve, or restore any user's content.

How long is data retained? Until the user deletes it. The only information Bee Visual holds is support correspondence, which we retain for up to 12 months after an issue is resolved.

How is data deleted? Users delete content inside the app. Synced data can be fully removed from iCloud in device Settings under iCloud Manage Account Storage. Bee Visual holds no copy to delete.

Breach notification. See the Security Incidents section of our privacy policies. If the support correspondence we hold is ever compromised, we will notify affected individuals and districts without unreasonable delay.

Subprocessors. For the apps on Apple devices, Apple (iCloud/CloudKit sync, App Store payments). For the apps on Android and Chromebook, Google (Google Play payments; the device's own Android Auto Backup may include app data in the customer's personal Google account backup, under Google's terms). For this website and our support email, Squarespace (hosting) and Google Workspace (email).

COPPA. Our apps collect no personal information from children. There are no child accounts and no advertising.

FERPA. Bee Visual never receives education records, so there are no Bee Visual-held records to protect, produce, or destroy.

You can verify the no-collection promise independently: the Google Play data safety label for Choiceworks shows "No data collected / No data shared."
